"Unground Chrysanthemum" 'M1905' Japanese military bolt action service rifle features a blued finish, 31.5" barrel, inverted 'v' front sight, flip-up ladder style rear sight graduated to 2,400 meters,
two barrel bands with bayonet lug on the forward band, smooth trigger, straight bolt handle with "plum" shaped knob, 5 round internal box magazine with quick detach floorplate, sling swivels,
smooth wood handguard and full-length semi-pistol grip shoulder stock with finger grooves in the forend & smooth metal buttplate. No import marks are found, the mum on the receiver ring has not been ground.
Mismatched bolt. Bore is poor to fair condition, dark & lightly pitted in grooves with strong rifling. Retains 50% blue, turning brown or showing patina in many places, significant pitting on exposed portions of barrel and
on sides of receiver. Wood is good condition, showing staining and some loss of finish, slight gap at butt join. Buttplate missing lower screw.
Includes a good condition bayonet (manufactured by Toyoda Jidoshoki Seisakusho - Toyoda Automatic Loom Works) with stained & lightly cracked grips, evenly pitted scabbard.
